The Dutch Debriefing on Srebrenica is a primary source document of extraordinary value. It is based on the questionnaire given by the Government of the Netherlands to each individual member of Dutch armed forces (Dutchbat) who served as part of the UN mission in the Srebrenica enclave. The time frame includes July 1995 when the enclave was taken over by the Serbia army and the preceding period, since 1994, of Dutchbat’s presence in the enclave. Like most practically contemporaneous documents of this nature, which tend to be more accurate in their recollection and depiction of the facts than subsequent versions of the same events, the Debriefing is an invaluable glimpse of what happened in Srebrenica as seen through the eyes of Dutch military personnel.
